Training Grants

In Words Talk-Numbers Count, the National Basic Skills Strategy for Wales, it states that ‘Practitioners are at the heart of good basic skills provision’.

As part of this strategy the Basic Skills Agency is funding a National Support Project for Teacher Training and Continuous Professional Development. Project staff will work with LEAs and schools to plan and deliver training for teachers and encourage them to take up the training that is available.

In addition, Training Grants have been made available to LEAs for the in-service training and professional development of secondary school staff and for primary staff in:

  • Communities First and other areas of significant disadvantage
  • Schools that face challenging circumstances and where there is a serious problem with under-attainment of pupils in the school or schools

For further information about Training Grants please contact Aaron Rosser on 02074406516 ext. 665, or email: aaronr@basic-skills.co.uk
