Writing to Learn

A survey of effective practice with writing at Key Stages 3 and 4, by Graham Frater.

This report offers an account of successful and emerging practice with writing at Key Stages 3 and 4 in English, and across the curriculum. Lessons in history, geography, RE and science were also observed; the survey’s chief emphasis was on non-narrative composition. The evidence was gathered in a survey of 12 schools in the autumn and spring terms 2002–3.
